Oil

Norway is Europe's top oil producer, responsible for more than half of all European production. Twice as much as the UK and ten times as much as European third place producer Germany.

Norway has created an investment fund from the proceeds of their oil profits, that will continue to benefit the country and future generations for centuries to come.

While the UK squandered their oil money, Norway provides an example to other countries on how to make the most of anything highly profitable they are lucky enough to be gifted.

Despite frequent bad weather, they still have very good working conditions thanks to excellent personal protective equipment (PPE) and more time off work than on. Other benefits include an extremely high regard for safety and high wages. They have an industry that is the envy of the oil world.

Most Norwegian rig employees dislike working in other countries since the conditions are comparably so bad.

Marggie Thatcher and the UK government got a massive boost through the eighties from oil, made the Conservatives look better than they were, but for what, it's all gone now.

I agree, Saudi Arabia and UAE are both investing for the future.

Some Middle East countries are being pretty smart with their money too.

I've worked with Norwegians in Scotland. They hate working in the UK. Their work gear like jackets, trousers, gloves etc are way better than ours.
